Origin story

From Luonde to Ha-Mashau

The attached record states that after the Singos, Ramabulana conquered the Ngonas, and that Vhafamadi and Vhakwevho were found staying together at Luonde. It also records a war between the Mashaus and Vhakwevho at Luonde, after which the Mashaus crossed the Luvuvhu River.

The Vhakwevho failed to cross because the water became strong and dangerous. The statement “Hotoufa madi” is recorded as the source from which the Vhafamadi / Mufamadi praise name was born.
